The production at your local theatre may be well rehearsed and inspiring, but that almost never transpires into the programs. I almost never flip through the entire thing because they’re so boring, even if the subject matter of the show I’m there to see is anything but.
I just wish all theatre programs could look like this one for the Playwrights Horizons. Bold, modern, attention-grabbing and easy-to-read in dim lights.

I’ve never seen a menu quite like this…but I can’t imagine how much it cost to make them. *whistles*

Made in Michigan: House Industry visits The Mitten State’s own French Paper
These pictures of the tour through the incredible French Paper Co. bring back memories of when I toured it in 2008. It was not only educational but a LOT of fun (and they give out some great samples!). Make a point to visit it at least once!
One of my favorite packaging designs of the whole year is for Illegal Burger, so I was happy to see that the menu is just as awesome as the bags and wrappers used to wrap the product. Now, can someone get me some storeface designs for this place? I’m curious as to how it looks (probably awesome).

It’s not very often that menus stray from their legal size with two to six pages of menu items. This folded, newspaper style menu for Smith is definitely striking and fits the overall feel of the restaurant, something that a lot of menus don’t do. I admit that I think the size of it would feel a bit overwhelming, but the fact that you use it to wrap up some of your leftovers makes up for that.

Jessica Hische is at it again and like many of her self-made and self-run websites, this one is very helpful. Inker Linker is a directory of good quality printers from all over the world. How many times have I seen requests for help from fellow designers on Twitter, asking for recommendations on great letterpressers/foil stampers/printers with fast turnovers? I see at least two a week. Inker Linker is long, long overdue. Thanks, Jessica!
(Just wondering: how many domain names does she own now? It’s gotta be in the double digits.)
I’ve never seen the branding for a design firm be so contradictory to their name. UK group Filthy has a sleek and clean set of print materials. There’s nothing filthy about it.
