Well, I’ve found the maker of my future furniture, done in that metal/concrete/heavy wood look I’ve been so fond of for a year or so. They’re called Chadhaus and they do wonderful handmade furniture for all parts of your living space. While I love basically everything they do, I adore their Anchor Coffee Table (no need to worry about guests forgetting to put their drinks on coasters; they can just set drinks on the concrete slat!) and Loft Bed the most. Sure, the stuff is expensive (the Loft Bed will put you down $5000) but it’s handmade, durable, and will look beautiful forever. Now, I just need to win the lottery…
A few months ago I saw a bench at a local gallery opening. It was unfinished walnut, clear-coated cement (not a common look; it was really quite gorgeous), and random swatches of bright green paint in between slats and in weird crevasses. I was hoping to buy it but it was already sold before I got there. I’ve been on the look out for something like it since, and these FALT.series stools by Tim Mackerodt fit the bill. They’re made out of a fiber-reinforced concrete that is folded, which makes them lighter. Also, the technique creates some gorgeous shapes and textures. I want a few for my apartment!

This Double Decker bed frame fits into the theme of my house (which is coming together slowly but surely): white walls, black furniture, wood accents and bright blue splashes of color. This bed is modern, clean cut and has some dark wood in the frame. It also goes along with my thought that a bed frame and its blankets should be simple as our dreams are innocent. It’s a wonderful match, and this frame is the perfect compliment. I want it.

The color theme for my apartment is white and black with small wood details and several large ocean-y blue pieces. I have a 3 foot tall ampersand in a deep ocean color and I’ve found a slightly lighter blue floor rug. I just need a picture frame or two, possibly a vase and maybe—just maybe—a small blue chair. After seeing this pretty darn awesome Club Chair by CB2, I’m definitely considering a piece of bright blue furniture.
My latest love in the home decorating world is rough wooden pieces in minimalistic forms. I’m going to guess it has something to do with trying to maintain some part of my youth in my new city life. I grew up in 70 acres in a farming town and I spent every day running through alfalfa fields, climbing trees, and petting baby deer. I hope this natural timber look doesn’t die soon because I am very much in love with it…even if it is just for nostalgia’s sake.

I saw this on ISO50 and I couldn’t help falling in love. Call it dated if you want but I think this Massimo Vignelli piece is classic.
Meant to be a modern interpretation of a rocking horse, the Hut-Hut is one gorgeous piece of furniture, whether you use it like the piece’s muse or not. I’d love to have it as more of a piece of art with functional purpose if you have company over.
This is a bit of genius, a lot of practical and unknown amounts of gorgeous.
