Video of the Week: Pes’s “Fresh Guacamole” stop animation
I LOVE their use of objects to represent something else. It was good in 2009’s “Western Spaghetti” and it is just as good here.

Video of the Week: “ParaNorman” trailer
LAIKA, the makers of “Coraline,” have released the trailer for their next film, “ParaNorman.” A boy, some creepy creatures, and a dream to be a hero…done in traditional claymation. I always applaud a group who still goes through the process of taking a shot, moving the characters, and taking another shot. Lots of respect out to you, LAIKA.

Video of the Week: 30 Ways to Kill a Cowboy promotional video for “Ready, Steady, Bang” iPhone/iPad game
Not only is that cowboy adorable, the animation style on this is incredible. A short watch, but definitely worth it.

Video of the Week: Brainbow’s highlighter-drawn shorts featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger
This is my new favorite animation style. Nothing like neon.

Video of the Week: Disney’s Multi Plane camera (1957)
In the early years of animation, one company just seemed to get it right. You know who I’m talking about: Disney. Some will say it’s the animation style. Some will say it’s the characters. Some will say it’s the storylines. One thing that probably no one chalks Disney’s success to is the way they filmed their backgrounds. Have you ever noticed how real everything feels? You may have felt it but never paid attention, and this video just shows you how good it all looks. Next time you watch an old school Disney movie like Dumbo or Cinderella, make sure you check out the background. I know I will.
